MIDLAND-ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

The second full week of September proved to be a busy one for health inspectors in Odessa. Several restaurants recorded perfect scores for the week of September 11 through September 15, as did one Midland restaurant. However, there was one place who made our low performer list.

Taqueria Guadalajara at 1301 S. Crane Ave. in Odessa was cited for the following:

- Didn’t have food handler card
- No thermometer in cold hold
- Food thawing at room temperature
- Cold hold not cold enough
- Food in hot hold not kept warm enough
- Certified manager course needed
- Soap/bleach mixed in ware washing
- Employee drinks open in prep area
- Food not covered in coolers
- Raw burgers found on top of ready-to-eat food

This resulted in the health inspector deducting 18 points from Taqueria Guadalajara. However, the health inspector went back a few weeks later and everything had been corrected.

As we mentioned, there were several restaurants with perfect scores for the week. Here’s a look at Odessa’s top performers:

- 7-Eleven (2455 Kermit Hwy.)
- Quizno’s (500 W. 4th St.)
- Starbucks (500 W. 4th St.)
- Dewey’s Breakfast Shop (500 E. Yukon Rd.)
- Popeye’s Chicken (4390 Tanglewood Ln.)
- Los Corporales (4000 N. Grandview Ave.)
- Great Western Dining (201 W. University Blvd.)
- El Buen Sazon (818 W. N. County Rd.)
- La Toreada (1020 S. Grant Ave.)
- Dairy Queen (1525 S. Grant Ave.)
- Whataburger (3716 Andrews Hwy.)
