BIG SPRING, TX (KWES) - One woman has pleaded guilty on charges related to the death of a Big Spring boy back in May of 2017.

We've learned that Kimberly Carson pleaded guilty to felony firearms smuggling in the death of Jose Hernandez, 12.

Carson was sentenced to 15 years behind bars out of a possible 20 years.

We're told that Carson will be extradited to Mason County where she faces burglary charges related to the case.

3 other suspects, Christopher Yanez, Cindy Lopez and Cody Wingo are awaiting trial on various charges in connection with this case.

As we've reported, Howard Co. Sheriff Stan Parker said two people from Big Spring robbed a house south of San Angelo.

Parker said among the items stolen were 28 guns.

We were told that the suspects then brought the guns back to Howard Co. and picked up Hernandez whom they knew and drove to a house in the county north of Big Spring.

Authorities said while the suspects were unloading the guns, one of them went off and shot through the tailgate.

The bullet did not hit anyone, but the fragments of the truck punctured Hernandez's lung and heart.

Hernandez died later at the hospital.
