2 men arrested in connection with deadly weekend crash in Midland

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

One woman is dead and a 2 people have been charged in connection with a deadly crash that occurred over the weekend in Midland.

We're told the accident happened at the intersection of Midland Dr. and Illinois Ave. around 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police said a black Chevy Cruze, driven by Brenda Vasquez, 24, was facing east on Illinois Ave.

Authorities said as the traffic signal at the intersection turned green, she drove through the intersection and that's when a black Chevy Silverado traveling at a high speed on Midland Dr. struck Vasquez's vehicle.

We're told Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Silverado, Juan Galindo, Jr., 21, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital's trauma ward.

Galindo has been arrested on a warrant for intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and reckless driving.

A passenger in Galindo's vehicle, Eduardo Murillo, 21, has been charged with public intoxication and failure to report a felony.

Both men are being held on bond.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
