MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - UPDATE: Midland County Commissioners have approved the donation.
Chevron is donating 73 acres to Midland County, making the southwest extension of Loop 250 possible.
"We are pleased to be able to support Midland County's efforts to expand road infrastructure and create solutions that improve road safety for our communities," said Michelle Obatoyinbo, Chevron Operations Area Manager.
The land donation will allow the extension to go from Interstate 20 to state highway 349 south of Midland and in the long term to state highway 158.
The project will also create an alternate route at the intersection of highway 349 and I-20.
"The County is pleased with this opportunity to create a more efficient infrastructure for our residents," Robin Donnelly, precinct 2 county commissioner said.
Upon completion of the route, the vision is that I-20 will connect through highway 349 to 158, the proposed route for Interstate 14.
