Two churches coming together as one.
“It demonstrates a spirit of charity and solidarity as fellow human beings,” said Bishop Michael Sis of San Angelo.
Parishioners from St. Anthony’s and St. Joseph’s in Odessa loaded up a trailer of much needed supplies for those who evacuated the Gulf Coast and ended up in Austin.
“They saw reports of the suffering of people along the coast, when they didn’t have diapers for their kids or the elderly and nursing homes didn’t have what they needed to take care of themselves after the storm,” said Sis.
The call to action didn’t need a push.
“People in Odessa know what it means to go through hard times. So when they see somebody else suffering, they can identify very clearly with that,” said Sis.
Bishop Sis blessed the trailer. When it gets to its destination, it’ll show the power of faith in one another.
“I think the hope should be no matter what happens, people care,” said Sis.
The Catholic Charities of Odessa will be taking the goods to the Catholic Charities of Austin.
