ECISD police investigating after teacher uses pepper spray on students to break up fight

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

The Ector County Independent School District Police Department is investigating following an incident on campus on Thursday.

We're told a fight between 2 girls began in front of the Odessa High School cafeteria around noon.

E.C.I.S.D. police said that 4 teachers tried to break up the fight.

However, police said, one teacher then warned the 2 girls that she was going to pepper spray them in an effort to disperse the fight.

We're told that she did use the pepper spray.

Police added that pepper spray is normally used for self-defense.

The incident is under further investigation and no names have been released.
