Midland Co. Sheriff's Office following leads after bomb threat called in at courthouse

The Midland County Sheriff's Office is investigating and following up on leads after a bomb threat was called into the courthouse Thursday morning.

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Midland County Sheriff's Office is investigating and following up on leads after a bomb threat was called into the courthouse Thursday morning.

The threat came in this morning around 10 a.m.

County Judge Mike Bradford tells us the building was evacuated with all employees and guests accounted for.

The courthouse was searched room to room by the Midland Police Department EOD unit, but no threat was found.

"You take all bomb threats or any type of public disturbance seriously," said Bradford.

Employees were finally let back in at 2 p.m. to pick up any personal items to take home.

The building remained closed for the day, but will re-open Friday morning.

"You know, you'd rather be on the front end of it or me talking about why we didn't evacuate when the building is on the ground. It's not a good conversation," said Bradford.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office says they have some leads, but there is no suspect in the case yet.

The sheriff's department is reaching out to the public for help.

If you have any information on this threat, call (432) 688-4600.
