MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

The Midland Police Department is warning residents about a new scam that is being reported.

We're told a phone scam is going around claiming to be with Midland Police or the Midland County Sheriff's Office saying a family member didn't show up for jury duty and they'll have a warrant if you don't pay.

Authorities said these phone scams particularly target the elderly and they're asking family members to talk with your parents, grandparents and neighbors.

Authorities added that neither Midland police or the Midland County Sheriff's Office will call and ask for money.

If you get a call you're unsure about, call Midland police at (432) 685-7108 or the Midland County Sheriff's Office at (432) 688-4600.

It was a fun filled morning for some elderly Midlanders. Since many of the residents of Senior Care of Midland are bound to wheelchairs, local students brought a carnival to them. It's a change of pace.
