UPDATE: Midland Fire Department contains apartment fire, no injuries

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

UPDATE: The Midland Fire Department has contained the apartment fire at the Silver Creek Apartments. 

Firefighters said Unit 27 G had a fire that began on a tenant's balcony. It came from a discarded smoking material that was left on the balcony.

They said there was moderate to heavy damage on the balcony but no fire damage to the inside of the apartment. There is smoke damage to several units of the apartment but one tenant will be displaced. All tenants are ready to go back in. 

There are no injuries.

The Midland Fire Department is on the scene of an apartment fire.

We’re told the fire is at the Silver Creek Apartments, located at 2438 Whitmire Blvd.

Our crew on the scene is reporting that smoke is coming out of the roof from building 28. 

No other details have been released yet.

We have a crew on the way to the scene to get the latest information.
