Arrest made after woman shot to death at Odessa apartment complex

UPDATE: Further investigation has revealed Ochoa discharged a firearm at two other people during the time of the shooting at Woodcrest Apartments. 

Detectives were able to obtain warrants for Ochoa. 

Upon arrival at Ochoa's home, two women, Wendy and Maria Ochoa refused to let the officers in by pushing and grabbing them. Wendy was holding a 1-year-old child and put the child in danger.

Once in his home, officers placed the women and Ochoa in custody.

An arrest has been made after a woman was shot to death in her apartment Saturday night just before 11 p.m.

Odessa police responded to a large disturbance at the Woodcrest Apartments. While on the scene, police learned that shots had been fired and a gunshot victim was inside an apartment.

Police found Mariana Nieto, 23, dead inside of her apartment.

The investigation revealed Juan Ochoa, 18, discharged a firearm at a large crowd and a round struck the victim causing her death.

Ochoa was arrested and is charged with Murder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-335-TIPS.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released pending autopsy results.
