ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

The Ector County jail at the courthouse will have a new operator soon.

Commissioners approved the change on Monday morning.

They say nothing major will change except for the owners of the company who operate the jail.

The company simply got bought out and commissioners needed to give them the okay to stay on.

"There's an acquisition of the company that runs the jail. The jail at the courthouse, not the county run jail. Within our lease agreement, there's a provision in there providing the county has to provide written consent to the assignment or acquisition," said Ector County Judge, Ron Eckert.
