Two teens behind bars for involvement in shooting of 14-year-old in Odessa

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

Two teens are behind bars following the shooting of a 14-year-old in Odessa on the 1200 block of Summer Avenue.

Odessa police say they responded to Medical Center hospital before 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon in reference to a gunshot victim.

Investigation revealed that a 14-year-old male had been shot in the 1200 block of Summer Avenue. The suspects fled before police arrived on scene.

The 14-year-old was taken to Medical Center Hospital and then taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock. 

Through the investigation, police identified two suspects Keehwon Scott, 17, and a 15-year-old male.

Police say Scott turned himself into the Odessa Police Department and admitted to shooting the 14-year-old causing serious injuries. The other suspect was located and had two pistols in his possession. 

One of the pistols had an obliterated serial number and police determined the other pistol was stolen.

Scott is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The 15-year-old is charged with theft of a firearm.

Scott was taken to the Ector County Jail and the 15-year-old is being held at the Ector County Youth Center.

The investigation into the incident continues.
