ALPINE, TX (KWES) -

A temporary mural was painted at a local record store in Alpine to honor Zuzu Verk on her birthday.

An artist from El Paso, Robertt Garcia, spray painted the temporary mural this morning at the Ring Tail Records store.

The event was for the 10 year anniversary of independently owned record stores. Lori Griffin, an organizer of the event says the mural was already set to be painted when she found out from Zuzu's parents that Saturday is her birthday.

Zuzu's favorite colors, green and purple were incorporated in the piece.

Dozens of people from out of town and out of the state filed in to the event and had their moment with the mural. Zuzu's parents were also in attendance.

Nate Harris, a local cabinet maker created a special box for friends and admirers of Zuzu to leave letters for her. The box will be given to the family.

Zuzu Verk went missing in October and was found in a shallow grave in the Alpine area in February.
