MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Scary moments for a Midland neighborhood Thursday morning. The Midland Police Department (MPD) swarmed the area looking for a man, police said he assaulted a woman outside and snatched her purse.

He took off on foot, MPD searched the area and haven't found him yet. The robbery happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection B St. and Bedford Dr.

Police describe the suspect is a white man, about 6'2", with a very thin build, in his 30's.

The woman suffered minor injuries. The incident was so shocking the Midland County Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) had to be called out to help with trauma.

Bowie Elementary and San Jacinto Junior High were both under lockdown while officers searched every square inch.

The CIU helps many first time victims cope.

"We're there to help them relax, to ease the tension they're going through and to help them become productive, get them back on their feet as fast as we possibly can," said Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter.

The lockdowns were lifted after police searched the area, authorities still haven't found the man they're looking for.

MPD is now asking for your help finding the man. If you live in the area of B St. and Bedford Dr. and have surveillance cameras, they might have picked up what police are looking for.

If you have any information or can hand over surveillance footage from between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., contact MPD at (432) 685-7108.
