ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - The Ector County Sheriff's Office will be getting a brand-new K-9 officer from Albuquerque and it's free.
They'll accept the gift at the next commissioner's court.
The K-9 is fully trained in protection, tracking and drug detection.
The donation means they'll now have two K-9 officers.
"That'll make our K-9's virtually available for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There shouldn't ever be a time where we don't have a dog available for drug detection or suspect location or something to that effect," said Ector County Sheriff, Mike Griffis.
The next Ector County Commissioner's Court meeting is Monday.
