ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

An Odessa father is behind bars following an incident on Saturday.

Justin Presley, 39, is accused of assault by strangulation (family violence).

Odessa police said they were called out to the 3900 block of Melody Ln. in reference to a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found Presley's 21-year-old daughter on the ground bleeding from her knee and left elbow.

According to the report, the daughter reported that she had been assaulted by "Justin."

Police said they pushed open the front door to the home but Presley immediately shut it and attempted to prevent officers from opening the door.

The report stated that once officers got the door open, they gave commands for Presley to get on the ground but he refused.

As officers were attempting to take Presley in custody, police said he pushed away and actively resisted arrest.

We're told he eventually stopped resisting arrest after being tased by officers.

Police said an investigation revealed that after Presley got into an argument with his daughter, he began to choke her with both of his hands.

The report stated that Presley then began to hit his daughter with a closed fist and also threw his daughter to the ground, continuing to hit her.

Presley was arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
