LEA COUNTY, NM (KWES) - Over $100,000 worth of stolen property was recovered in Lea County, N.M.
The Lea County Sheriff's Office said that over the past few weeks, authorities were able to arrest 3 people in connection with the stolen property.
The first person arrested was Patrick Ryan, 21, who police said was involved in the theft of a 25' enclosed trailer that was stolen back on Feb. 14, 2017, in the 4000 block of W. Bender Blvd.
Authorities said the trailer was recovered the following day in Lovington, N.M. with a value of $20,000. We're told that Ryan was charged with fraud when he sold the trailer to someone for over $2,500.
The second person arrested was Jodie Roberts, 31, who police said was involved in the theft of a Dodge pickup from the 200 block of Apache Dr. on Feb. 10, 2017. Police said the vehicle was found the following day and was valued at $6,000. Roberts was later charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
The last person arrested was Rene Valdez, 33, who was in possession of items stolen in the northern portion of Lea County around the Lovington area. Authorities said two trailers that were stolen were on his property. We're told one of the trailers was taken back in Aug. 2016 while the other was taken in Jan. 2017. The two trailers had a combined value of $11,500. Valdez was later charged with two counts of receiving stolen property.
