ODESSA, TX (KWES) - We all know how much West Texans love football and now is your chance to help recognize one of the great grid irons of the sport.
The Ector County Historical Commission will dedicate a marker for the W.T. Barrett Football Stadium in Odessa.
Back in the day, it was the largest high school football stadium in the state.
It held a total of 20,000 fans.
Football teams from Odessa High, Ector and Permian all used the old field until Ratliff Stadium was finally built.
Track and field events were also held there.
The marker is being dedicated Friday at 10 a.m. at the location where the stadium once stood at the corner of 27th St. and Golder Ave.
