CULBERSON COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A manhunt is underway for a suspect in Culberson County.
We're told it all started as a pursuit when a stolen Mini Cooper fled a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, continued east into Van Horn then north on Texas Highway 54.
The Culberson County Sheriff's Office said the driver also rammed a Department of Public Safety unit then fled on foot.
United States Border Protection officers are assisting with a ground and air search.
Reports received by the sheriff's office said the stolen vehicle may have had a gun inside. Authorities said it is unclear if the driver is currently armed. However, they said no gun was located in the Mini Cooper.
We're told the search area is vast and is just south of Guadalupe Peak.
Several agencies are actively involved in the search.
