Man accused of assaulting girlfriend with piece of metal pipe

One man is behind bars accused of assaulting his girlfriend with a piece of a metal pipe.

Juan Venegas, 37, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence).

On Friday, Odessa police were called out to the 300 block of East 31st St. in reference to a physical disturbance.

According the report, dispatch learned that a passerby reported that a man was assaulting a woman outside.

When officers arrived, officers made contact with a 33-year-old female and Venegas.

An investigation revealed that after Venegas and her girlfriend got into an argument, Venegas began hitting his girlfriend repeatedly.

That's when, police said, Venegas picked up a piece of metal pipe and struck his girlfriend on the head and back.

Venegas was later arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
