ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

As a plane sits between Kristi Road and Duncan Drive off of 87th Street in Ector County, after making an emergency landing Tuesday evening, residents in the area said they get up close and personal with some planes on a regular basis.

Christina Ramos, a resident near the landed plane said, “I’m just glad they missed ours. It is scary but what can you do.”

Ramos and her family have been living in the area for a handful of years and said the hearing the news a plane had to make an emergency landing isn’t surprising.

“Just knowing as low as they fly it can happen,” said Ramos.

The Texas Department of Public Safety along with the Ector County Sheriff’s Department were on scene when the plane made the emergency landing.

DPS said the plane took off from Odessa-Schlemeyer Airport when the pilot was forced to land due to engine issues. Ramos added the planes the planes fly so low it feels like you can almost touch it.

"One of the guys working on our house when we were building said he felt it wasn’t but another story from ours,” said Ramos.

Ramos and others in the neighborhood who didn’t want to be on camera believed the pilot did the right thing in this situation and offer advice to others flying over their homes.

“Just look for open space, as much space as you can.”

DPS tells NewsWest 9 the plane will stay in the spot it landed throughout the night. There was no word of any injuries to the pilot.
