ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One man is behind bars on several charges following an early morning incident in Odessa.

Hector Yanez Jr., 24, is charged with delivery of cocaine, evading arrest, resisting arrest and false identification-fugitive from justice.

We're told police saw a blue Dodge Stratus traveling northbound in the 1000 block of Custer Ave. with a defective license plate light.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver gave officers a false name but was eventually identified as Yanez.

Police said a computer check showed the license plate belonged to another vehicle.

When officers asked Yanez to get out of the vehicle, he immediately began running eastbound in the 2700 block of E. 11th St.

When officers caught up with Yanez to take him into custody, he physically resisted arrested by pulling his arms underneath his body.

After officers handcuffed Yanez, they spotted several crack rocks on his shirt and on the ground that he tried to destroy.

Yanez was later arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
