ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

The Odessa Police Department needs your help locating an aggravated assault suspect.

Over the weekend, Odessa police were called out to 8th Street and Whitaker Avenue in reference to a hit and run involving injuries to an elderly couple.

Police said an investigation revealed that a silver 2014 Ford F-250 hit a gray 2010 Toyota Highlander from behind.

That's when, police said, the driver of the F-250 intentionally hit the Highlander a second time then fled the scene northbound on Whitaker Avenue before turning westbound onto 10th Street.

Officers then followed the F-250, retrieved the license plate number and the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole. According to the report, as officers approached the vehicle, the driver of the F-250 accelerated and drove off.

The elderly couple in the Highlander, a 63-year-old male and female, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

However, the story doesn't end there.

Police said further investigation revealed that the F-250 was reported to be the suspect in a theft that happened at Walmart East on Saturday afternoon. We're told approximately $1,200 worth of merchandise was taken before fleeing from the store.

Once the man is arrested, he will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, evading with a motor vehicle and theft of property.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the suspect, please contact Odessa Police at (432) 333-3641 or Odessa Crime Stoppers at (432) 333-TIPS.
