Iraan-Sheffield school board president, Margaret Holmes, tells us cheerleading sponsor Liz Pope, 52 has died following last night's bus crash.

Pope's sister, Christina Garlock, suffered several serious injuries. Garlock is out of surgery and family is waiting on a condition update from doctors.

Officials at University Medical Center in Lubbock tell us two patients remain in critical condition.

Holmes goes on to say three cheerleaders with injuries were treated and released from Scenic Mountain Medical Center.

"The community is heart broken and we are just coming together and grieving," said Holmes. "Both girls are a big part of the community and we're heartbroken."

We are still trying to confirm a cause for the crash. Sources say it's possible the semi-truck swerved to avoid hitting an SUV then hit the bus. DPS expects to have more information later today.

Iraan-Sheffield ISD was heading back home from Colorado City after a football game. Holmes said 45 minutes before the crash the Braves were celebrating a victory against Munday.
