ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One man is behind bars on several charges following an early morning incident in Odessa.

Edmundo Hernandez, 35, is charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of cocaine and resisting arrest.

Odessa police said they saw a tan GMC Sierra speeding eastbound in the 5200 block of E. 42nd St.

Officers said the vehicle was traveling 47 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and Hernandez appeared to be very nervous and making unusual movements.

Police said after a search of the vehicle, they found cocaine on the driver's seat.

That's when, police said, Hernandez tried to swipe the cocaine off the seat and onto the floorboard of the vehicle.

As officers were trying to arrest Hernandez, he began pulling away and pushed officers.

Hernandez was eventually detained and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
