ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

A child is recovering at the hospital after falling out of a moving vehicle this afternoon.

Odessa police were called out to the 2500 block of W. University Blvd. in reference to a child falling out of a moving vehicle.

Police said a red Toyota Tundra, driven by Anna Dominguez De Contreras, 50, of Odessa, exited Northeast Loop 338 and turned eastbound onto the 2500 block of West University when a three-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the vehicle, opened the door to the vehicle and fell out.

Police said the girl was not restrained in a car seat and the child locks on the vehicle weren't on.

The child was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
