WARD COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Two people are dead and two others are recovering following a morning accident last week in Ward County.
The accident happened on Interstate 20, about two miles west of Monahans.
Department of Public Safety Troopers said a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck was traveling east on Interstate 20 when the front left tire of the truck had a blowout.
That's when, authorities said, the driver of the vehicle lost control, crossed into the center median, entered the westbound lanes of I-20 and collided with a 2004 GMC Sierra that was towing a trailer.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck, John Blakeney, 40, of Wink, and a passenger in his vehicle, Cynthia Pritchard, 42, of Deleon, Texas, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC, Javier Garcia, 39, of Warner Robbins, GA and a 13-year-old boy were taken to Ward County Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
