ANDREWS COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A family is mourning the loss of their loved one, Israel Ramirez, 23. Israel was found dead on a road in Andrews County.
The family spoke exclusively with NewsWest 9.
"He was a great man. He had his faults but he was a great man," said Angie Ramirez, Israel's wife.
Israel went missing over the weekend. The last time his family saw him was when he left in 2012 Nissan Sentra. That same car is now missing but Israel was found on an lease road by an oil field worker.
"He was shot twice in his chest and his neck. That's what they have told us," said Sarai Zamora, Israel's sister.
Authorities have listed the car as stolen but the family and the community want answers.
"Whoever did this to him. Please come forward. Please turn yourselves in. He deserves to have justice," Angie said
This unexpected tragedy has hit the family hard. They have received overwhelming support from their church and others who knew Israel.
"People knew my brother here. He grew up in this town. He never wanted to leave this town," said Sarai. "They just loved him a lot and they have showed it."
"To see a young life taken a way, this way, Just to know that somebody would leave him out there like that. It is very sad," said Isaac Uvalle, Israel's pastor.
A fundraiser will be held for Israel's funeral tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Andrews County Community Building. BBQ plates will be sold and donations to the family are welcome.
