MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

Midland residents are welcome to have "Coffee with a Cop" on Thursday morning.

The event will be held at Brew St. Bakery, located at 4610 N. Garfield St. from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

We're told that free gun locks, that were donated by Project ChildSafe, will be given to the first 100 attendees.

The "Coffee with a Cop" program allows citizens and police to come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee.

The City of Midland said the program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members.
