MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Midland Fire Department will be conducting a smoke detector installation blitz starting next week in East Midland.

The blitz is to help residents with installing a smoke detector for their home at no cost to the homeowner.

The blitz will take place in the area east of A Street, north of Highway 80 and south of Wadley Avenue from 1:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Thurs., Nov. 10 and Thurs., Nov. 17.

We're told the area has been determined to be one of Midland's highest-risk area for fire incidents through a review of data over the past three years.

If you're interested in receiving a smoke detector, contact the Midland Fire Department at (432) 685-7332. Appointments will be accepted outside the blitz days on a case-by-case basis.
