GAINES COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A Hobbs, N.M. man will spend the next 30 years behind bars in connection with a murder that occurred in Gaines County back in 2013.
According to the Seminole Sentinel, Carlos Najera, 46, took the plea deal on Monday.
Najera was facing several charges including capital murder, murder and aggravated kidnapping.
Back in November 2013, Anna Villegas of Seminole was reported missing and her body was later found bound and naked close to the Pecos River in Eddy County eight days later.
Villegas' estranged husband, Juan Villegas, was arrested in Dec. 2013 and later extradited to Gaines Co.
According to court documents, the men stuffed gloves into her mouth and put duct tape over her head, mouth and nose causing her to die from asphyxiation.
Villegas also promised to pay Najera for his involvement in the woman's death.
