ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa police arrested a man after they say he shot a round into a driveway, causing a piece of concrete break off and strike a child in the head.
Officers were sent out to the 900 block of East Snyder St. around 7 p.m. Thursday evening on a report of a firearm being discharged.
A witness told police Gary Bars Jr., 35, had discharged a gun and that when the round hit the concrete driveway, a piece of it flew up and hit a 7-year-old boy in the forehead, causing him bodily injury.
Officers saw the shotgun with a spent shell casing in the yard.
Further investigation also revealed that Bars was in possession of a metal smoking pipe and that he was a convicted felon.
Bars was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, injury to a child and public intoxication.
