DAWSON COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

A K-9 officer with the Dawson County Sheriff's Office is getting early retirement this week.

Enzor, a nine-year-old Belgian malinois drug sniffing dog was diagnosed with a degenerative hip problem.

Enzor was looked at by two separate vets both saying there was nothing they could do about it and to keep him from doing anything strenuous in the future.

Enzor's handler, Deputy Virginia Ortiz, was given permission to keep him as her own.
