ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

The PPOA is hosting a fundraiser for Detective Whitney Branch, who was seriously injured during a chase with an armed man.

On November 12, the “Blue Families in Need” Hamburger Feed will be selling burgers to anybody who wants to help at the Pal Gym at Floyd Gwin Park.

Whether you want to sit down and chow down or grab and go. Just swing by 10th St. and Country Road West to pick up your plate.

You can get your general admission tickets at the front desk window at the Odessa Police Department for $10 a plate.

Detective Branch was placed in a medically induced coma after falling off the side of a patrol unit during the pursuit of an armed man.

The detective's condition was downgraded recently from critical to serious. But her road to recovery will be a long one.

We spoke with Officer Caleb Lacey who wants to thank the community for the support the Odessa Police Department has already received during this very difficult time.
