MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

Advance Auto Parts will donate more than $700 worth of parts to a homeless veteran.

After seeing the story on NewsWest 9, commercial accounts manager Benny Lopez spoke to his district manager to supply auto parts to Bill Johnson, a disabled veteran.

Johnson was traveling to Midland from Montana to study geology in the area when his car broke down.

After spending thousands to fix the problem, he was out of money and hope.

"It was just the right thing to do, especially for a veteran. They shouldn't be left behind," said Lopez.

Lopez said Johnson was very grateful and wanted to pay the company back, but they will not seek reimbursement.

Johnson opted to fix the car himself, as he was a mechanic for a number of years.
