Man accused of assaulting police officer, violating protective order

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One man is behind bars accused of assaulting an Odessa police officer and violating a protective order.

Odessa police said officers were call out to the 1300 block of South Sam Houston Ave. in reference to a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, the spoke with Anselmo Barraza, 45, who was one of the involved parties.

According to the report, police said that Barraza was intoxicated.

Further investigation revealed that Barraza had a protective order against him that was violated.

He was charged and placed into an arrest wagon.

Police said as Barraza was being seated in the arrest wagon, he attempted to head butt an Odessa police officer in the face but missed and hit his chest area instead.

Barraza is charged with assault on a public servant, violation of a protective order (warrant) and public intoxication.
