No leads in two-year-old murder case, family wants justice

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Exactly two years have gone by since a man was shot and killed in Odessa. To this day, police still have no leads.

Now on the anniversary of his death, his family is asking the public to come forward with any information.

A family remembers and mourns Humberto Palma Jr. killed at the age of 39.

"Somebody decided to take his life away from us," said his father, Humberto Palma Sr.

Their second year without him and the second year without justice or answers on why this tragedy happened.

"It tears you apart," said Yarima Palma, the victim's sister. "It shakes you to your very core."

Humberto Jr. was shot in Odessa on September 29, 2014.

Witnesses saw a truck drive by quickly and heard three gunshots. One of those shots hit Humberto Jr. in the head.

"They destroyed a whole family," said Yarima.

Humberto Jr. was shot in broad daylight, but to this very day, there are no leads in the case.

The most information police have released is the shooter may have been in an older model Ford Taurus.

"Out of all the homicides that our detectives have investigated within the last few years, this is the only one where we haven't had any solid leads," said Steve LeSueur with Odessa Police Department.

The OPD said they've exhausted all their resources.

Although the case has run cold, Odessa police said they aren't giving up but the Palma family wants justice now.

"He was my brother. He had a family. He belonged to somebody," Yarima said emotionally.

"Why you did this to him? What happened? It's Important. Somebody knows something. Call the police, please. Call," said the victim's father.

If you have any information, call Odessa Crime Stoppers at (432) 333-TIPS.
