Davidson Distinguished Lecture Series welcomes Apollo 13 Astronaut James Lovell tonight

A well-known NASA legend and Apollo 13 commander will be speaking at a special event tonight at Midland College.

Apollo 13 astronaut Capt. James Lovell will be speaking at the Midland College Davidson Distinguished Lecture Series at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center.

Lovell is most remembered by stating a five-word message, "Houston, we have a problem" during the Apollo 13 mission. 

Captain Lovell is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, the University of Southern California’s Aviation Safety School, and the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. He has earned many awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, two Navy Distinguished Flying Crosses, and the Congressional Space Medal of Honor. Today, he is president of Lovell Communications, a business devoted to disseminating information about the U.S. space program.

The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

The event is free (no ticket required) and is open to the public.
