BIG SPRING, TX (KWES) -

The Big Spring SWAT responded to help the Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division after a suspect refused to come out of his house when they tried to serve a warrant.

DPS attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant for manufacture/delivery of methamphetamine on Joe Petty, 51, Monday afternoon in the 1000 block of Bluebonnet Ave.

After investigators told Petty who they were and why they were there, he went into his house and locked the door.

DPS then asked for the assistance of the Big Spring SWAT.

A perimeter was established around the house and authorities tried several times to call Petty outside, but he refused.

When the tactical team approached the door, Petty then immediately exited the residence and surrendered.

There are no reports of any injuries.
