ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

The Odessa Police Department is warning citizens after a new scam that is being reported.

We're told the scam is involving the Internal Revenue Service.

Police said citizens have reported receiving calls from the phone number (432) 333-3641, which is an Odessa police number.

According to the release, the citizens said there was a male subject claiming the caller needed to pay the Internal Revenue Service or else they will be tracked down.

Odessa Police are reminding citizens that should the public get a phone call, e-mail or text message from anyone claiming to work for the Internal Revenue Service to not pay any money or provide any personal information.

Citizens are urged to contact the Internal Revenue Service directly at 1-800-829-1040 or online at www.tigta.gov to inquire about any possible debts owed.
