ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One man is behind bars in Odessa on numerous charges.

Anselmo Barraza, 45, was arrested on charges including obstruction or retaliation, assault causing bodily injury (family violence) and public intoxication.

Police were called out to the intersection of Clements St. and Washington Ave in reference to a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a 25-year-old woman and Barraza, who is her boyfriend.

Officers said when they were talking with Barraza, they could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him.

Further investigation revealed that after Barraza and his girlfriend got into an argument, police said Barraza assaulted his girlfriend.

But the story doesn't end there.

Police said as Barraza was being taken into custody, he threatened an independent witness stating, "I'm burning her house down when I get out."

Barraza was arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
