MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

This week, authorities are bringing awareness to drivers improperly using child safety seats.

In accordance with Child Passenger Safety Week, Midland police will be checking safety seats from Sept. 19 through Sept. 23.

The checks are created to remind parents and caregivers to properly use and install safety seats.

MPD's certified passenger safety technicians will check that the seats are installed correctly and are the right seat for the child's age and size.

MPD will also replace a limited number of seats that may be expired, damaged or unsuitable for the child.

To schedule an appointment with a technician, call (432) 685-7105.
