ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

Odessa police arrested Luther Davenport, 55, for allegedly threatening to kill his wife with a knife because she called the police on him earlier this month.

Officers were sent out to the 3700 block of Andrews Highway Thursday afternoon for a domestic disturbance involving a knife.

When they arrived, a 51-year-old woman told police that Davenport threatened to kill her with a knife because she called the police on him back on August 9.

According to authorities, Davenport forced his way into the apartment, rushed her with the knife in his hand and threw a glass table on its side.

The victim fell backwards over a couch and fled the scene before calling the police.

Davenport was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and obstruction or retaliation.
