MIDLAND- When the final out of the Texas League Championship was registered early Saturday Morning, the Midland RockHounds did something that no team has done in 91 years, which was to win three straight Texas League Championships.
"It's unbelievable, to be a part of history feels really amazing, but I'm just so happy for these guys, we had 49 guys come through here this year," RockHounds Manager Ryan Christenson said. "Everybody had a part and we got guys watching in the big leagues right now, that they were on this team. Just everybody played great and it feels amazing."
This fairy tale ending can be credited to another strong second half. The Hounds went 45-25 for the best second half record in the league and more impressively they did it with a door of revolving new faces.
"We had a complete new group of guys and we just played for each other," RockHounds Pitcher Jake Sanchez said. "I mean we had guys come up late in the year. We lost a lot of guys and we just came together at the end. Right when we needed to."
These three seasons have brought a dynasty to Midland. A team that was nearly a century in the making belongs to the Tall City
