ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The 25th annual breakfast for Hispanic Heritage month kicked off Thursday morning at La Margarita Festival Park.

In attendance were EMS first responders, Odessa police, Odessa High School football players and even players from the first ever University of Texas of the Permian Basin Falcon football team.

This breakfast is just the kickoff for an entire month's worth of events this month.

"It's all about who you are and where you came from and a lot of times we lose that. Kids, especially students, need to know that and when they know that their grandparents that were somebody back there, that they have a history, that they have a rich culture, that they have a tradition that they have to uphold, that makes a whole difference in anybody's life," Carol Uranga, Executive Director for Hispanic Heritage of Odessa and President of LULAC in Odessa, said.

To find the events to celebrate this month and more information, you can go to LULAC or the Hispanic Heritage of Odessa.
