MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - On Monday, members of MARC in Midland described their new building as "a long time coming" and their old building as "busting at the seams."
Midland Mayor Jerry Morales and members of the Midland Chamber of Commerce were a part of the ribbon cutting ceremony officially opening up the new Spectrum of Solutions building located at 2409 West Illinois Avenue.
The new center now allows families a place locally to get the help for their children who are struggling with developmental issues.
Melanie Saiz, Marketing and Development Director said with a new location and more resources families in the Permian Basin no longer have to go so far for answers.
"I personally am a parent of a child on the spectrum and she's grown now but we used to have to travel to Austin. This to me is such a blessing to our community so that parents and families don't have to struggle with the financial burden and emotional burden of having to leave so often," said Saiz.
Saiz added there at least 20-thousand people affected in the Permian Basin with cognitive disabilities.
Music therapy and psychology are just some of the things the new building will be able to offer.
