ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One woman is behind bars on several charges following a hit and run accident.
Odessa police were called out to the 5400 block of Andrews Highway Friday just before 10:45 p.m.
An investigation revealed that a white Hyundai Sonata failed to control speed and struck a blue 2010 Dodge Journey.
Police said the driver of the Sonata fled the scene and witnesses followed the vehicle.
We're told officers later caught up to the Sonata in the 5500 block of North Dixie Blvd. where they identified the driver as Chelsea Rambo, 24.
Officers said they also spoke with a seven-year-old female who was in the back seat of the Sonata.
According to the report, while officers were talking with Rambo, they could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her.
Police added that Rambo was injured as a result of the crash but refused to be taken to the hospital.
As a result, Rambo was later arrested for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests.
Child Protective Service was notified and the seven-year-old girl was released to a family member.
Rambo is charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger and leaving the scene of an accident.
