REEVES COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Jim Haley, Superintendent of Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District, confirms that they are under a soft lockdown. Marfa Superintendent Andrew Peters says they are under shelter in place but are safe and have no intentions of canceling any classes.

Haley explained that all of the exterior exits have been secured and anyone wanting to enter the building must use the main entrance.

Local law enforcement did walkthroughs of the campuses and found no instances calling for a lockdown but did so as a precaution because of the shooting in Alpine.

They will reconsider the lockdown sometime after lunch.

The Alpine versus Pecos junior varsity football game has been cancelled.
