HOWARD COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Those in Howard County could be looking at a higher tax bill at the end of the year.

The Howard County Junior College district is proposing a tax increase that will get them an extra 3.23% over last year.

That means the average home will be handing over $60 more than they did last year.

The new rate isn't final just yet.

Residents can still voice their opinion at the two public hearings scheduled over the next week.

The first hearing is Wednesday evening at the Howard College campus at 5:30 p.m. in the Tumbleweed room inside of the student union building.

The second hearing is scheduled next Monday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.

Come on out and make your voices heard.
