ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One man is behind bars following a traffic stop in Odessa on Wednesday afternoon.
Jesse Mendez, 27, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury (family violence).
Police said officers conducted a traffic stop on a white and red Mustang traveling in the area of Nimitz Dr. and Center Ave.
Officers spoke with Mendez and police said it was later determined that Mendez had a felony warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the report, back on July 25, an assault report was made with Odessa Police.
An investigation of the report revealed that after Mendez got into an argument with his 24-year-old boyfriend, Mendez struck his boyfriend on the back of the head with an iron.
The report also stated that Mendez also cut his boyfriend on his face with a box cutter.
The boyfriend was taken to the hospital with serious bodily injury.
Mendez was later arrested and charged.
